Sakonnet Vineyards
162 West Main Rd., Little Compton, 401.635.8486. Family-owned and situated on scenic country farmland alongside the Sakonnet River. Sakonnet Vineyards was founded in 1975. Today it produces 30,000 cases a year from 50 acres planted with vinifera varietals and French-American hybrids. Hospitality Center open daily for tours, wine tastings, and retails sales. Directions: From Bristol, follow Rt. 114 over Mount Hope Bridge. Take first left after bridge and follow to Rt. 24 North. Take Tiverton/Little Compton exit, and follow Rt. 77 South through Tiverton Four Corners traffic light. Vineyard will be 3 miles on left.
Greenvale Vineyards
582 Wapping Road, Portsmouth, 401.847.3777. A small, family-owned 19th century Victorian farm located on 50 acres along the Sakonnet River and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Vineyards planted in 1982, producing 3500 cases per year. Tasting Room located in beautifully restored stable. www.greenvale.com
Directions: From Bristol, follow Rt. 114 S over Mount Hope Bridge to Rt. 138 S. Pass the State Police barracks on right and take a left onto Sandy Point Ave at the traffic light. Take first right onto Wapping Rd.
