Day Trips

Newport, Rhode Island
A trip to Rhode Island would not be complete without a visit to Newport, the Ocean State's City by the Sea. Whether strolling the bustling commercial and recreational waterfront, walking through the historic and magnificently grand Newport mansions, gazing at the Atlantic Ocean from the high perches of the Cliff Walk or enjoying the lively evening social life, Newport has much to offer. Below are a few of the many opportunities for spending a day in Newport.

Newport Bristol Heritage Passage

A collection of over 85 historic sights, attractions, gardens and museums linking Newport to Bristol, it is a must see for visiting history buffs. These attractions have been organized into seven areas of interest: colonial history, gilded age, religious freedom & tolerance, historic gardens, maritime heritage and museums.

The Amica Insurance Tall Ships® Rhode Island 2007
An international celebration of world-class Tall Ships® and youth training programs, culminating in the most extensive maritime festival ever, spreading across the entire Newport Harbor from June 27-July 1, 2007. Highlighted by the presence of the Tall Ships Fleet and capped by their grand Parade of Sail to sea, it's planned to attract over 250,000 visitors. An International Village, made up of tent-pavilions representing the participating countries, will stand in the heart of Newport to celebrate the global community and to educate and entertain visitors. This will be the only Tall Ships festival in New England this year.
